Jazz is one of the original and quintessential American art forms, and the Big Band is one of its most exciting manifestations. It swings and it rocks, it whispers and it can knock you back in your chair. One thing it won't let you do is sit still while listening!
The Westwind Big Band is an extension of the Hopkins Westwind Concert Band. Many members have been playing jazz as long as they've been playing their horns. The 18-piece ensemble follows classic instrumentation, playing standards from the 'Big Band' era as well as more recent additions to the contemporary jazz library.
You will find our band playing all over the Twin Cities - in band festivals, music-in-the-park series, and other special events. Enjoy the music!
